Privacy policy
In short
Eden keeps what you tell it so it can remind you and answer your questions. Only you can see your data, except a Seed you choose to share with your Home. To understand what you say, Eden uses AI services, and only after you allow it. We do not sell your data, show you ads, or track you across apps. You can forget any Seed, and delete your whole account from inside the app at any time.
What Eden stores
- Your account: your email address, and either a password (stored only as a secure hash) or, if you sign in with Apple or Google, the account id and email address they share (Apple’s may be a private relay address) and the name you chose to share.
- Your profile: the name you give, your time zone, and whether and when you allowed AI sharing.
- What you capture: the text of what you said, typed or shared into Eden from another app, the Seeds and short titles Eden makes from it, and the links between them, including names of people and places you mention.
- Questions you ask Eden and its answers (with the Seeds each answer used), and spoken corrections with Eden’s reply, so the same chat shows on each of your devices. Kept for 30 days.
- If you make an Eden address (Settings → Connections): the text sent to it, kept as a capture like anything you say, and a scrambled copy (a hash) of the address’s secret, so Eden can recognise it; the address itself is kept only on the phone that made it.
- Places you save (Settings → Places): each one’s name, kind (home, office, shop) and its point on the map, found by a search, by the map, or from where you are when you tap “Current location”.
- If you turn on “Bring in my calendar”: the title, time and location text of your calendar events from yesterday to 30 days ahead, saved as Seeds so they show in Eden. Turning it off stops new ones; you can forget any of them.
- If you add Seeds to your calendar (automatically, or with “Add to calendar”): Eden writes them to an “Eden” calendar and, on iPhone, an “Eden” Reminders list on your phone, and keeps them in step. That happens on your phone only.
- Usage records: for each AI request, the model used, its size and its cost, so you can see your usage and so Eden can stay within a budget.
- On this phone: your captures (your capture history, and any not yet sent), a copy of your Seeds, projects and places so Eden opens quickly and works offline, and your settings. Signing out clears the copy.
Sharing with your Home
If you make or join a Home (Settings → Home), Eden stores who is in it, their names as they set them, and who invited whom with a code (only a scrambled copy of each code is kept). A Seed you share with Home shows its words, type, date and status, and your name, to everyone in it, who can tick it done; Eden then shows who did. What you said around it, the people and places it names in your Eden, and Eden’s guesses are never shared, and no AI reads anyone else’s shared Seeds. Leaving a Home, being removed from it, or deleting your account stops sharing your Seeds and takes your name off what you ticked.
Where you are
Eden does not track where you go. If you turn on place alerts, your phone watches only the places you saved and shows a notification when you arrive at one; where you are is not sent. When you search for a place to save, Eden sends the words you type with your country and, if you already allowed location, your rough area (rounded to about 11 km) so nearby results come first; that area is not stored. The map that shows a place is drawn by Google Maps on your phone, around that place.
Your voice
Eden does not record or keep audio. Your voice is turned into text by your phone’s own speech recognition. On iPhone that is Apple’s: on the iPhone where the device supports it, otherwise on Apple’s servers. On Android it is Google’s: on the phone where the language is installed for offline use, otherwise on Google’s servers. When Eden speaks a reply, it uses your phone’s own voice, on the phone. Eden does not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
Who processes it
- Supabase stores your account and data, in its Mumbai (India) region.
- AI services, only after you allow it (and never once you turn it off in Settings → Your data): Google’s Gemini API receives the text of your captures (including text sent to your Eden address, which is sorted as it arrives, even while Eden is closed), questions, corrections and searches, and with them the names Eden knows (your name, people, places, life areas, projects and their steps) and related Seeds, to split what you say into Seeds, sort them, find related ones and answer you. Eden may use OpenAI’s API instead for splitting and sorting, which then receives the same for those steps. Text only, never audio. Under their API terms they do not train their models on it; they may keep it for a limited time to detect abuse.
- Apple provides speech recognition on iPhone, Sign in with Apple, and delivers the iPhone app.
- Google provides speech recognition on Android, Sign in with Google (if you use it), and delivers the Android app through Google Play; Google Maps (Places) finds the places you search for (OpenStreetMap if Google is unavailable), as described under “Where you are”.
- Expo delivers app updates. Eden checks for one when it opens and every few hours in the background, sending the app’s version and the kind of device, never your captures.
- If you tap “Ask Claude” or “Ask ChatGPT” on a Seed, Eden opens claude.ai or chatgpt.com with that Seed in the link (its text, date, people, place and up to 300 characters of what you said). From there, Anthropic’s or OpenAI’s own terms apply.
Assistants you connect
If you connect Eden to an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT, that assistant can read the Seeds it needs to answer you (what’s due, what you search for, today’s brief) and add what you tell it to Eden; what it adds is sorted by Eden’s AI like anything you say. What it reads is handled by the assistant’s maker (Anthropic for Claude, OpenAI for ChatGPT) under your account with them. It cannot delete anything. You can remove the connection at any time in Settings → Connections. Eden never connects an assistant for you.
How long it is kept
Questions and Eden’s answers are kept for 30 days; your Seeds stay until you delete them. Everything else stays until you remove it. Forgetting a Seed deletes it from your list, the Garden and its links; the words of the capture it came from stay in your account, visible only to you, until you forget that capture too (hold its bubble in Eden chat), which deletes its words and every Seed made from it, on our servers and on this phone. Usage records (model, size and cost, never words) are kept. Deleting your account (Settings → Profile and account → Delete account) permanently removes your account and everything linked to it from our servers at once, and clears your captures from this phone.
Your choices
You can edit or forget any Seed, forget a whole capture, turn AI sharing off (new captures then stay on this phone, unsorted), export everything, change your name and time zone, turn haptics off, sign out, or delete your account, all inside the app.
Children
Eden is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date below changes and the app shows the new version. If what goes to AI services, or to whom, changes, Eden asks you again before sending anything.
